Paul D’Aguilar
British, born: 1927
Painter and draughtsman, born of Spanish / English parentage, lived in London, brother of the artist Michael D’Aguilar. Educated privately in France. Italy and Spain, studied at the RA 1948-53 under Henry Rushbury. He won gold, silver and bronze prizes for drawing at the RA and won several Royal Drawing Society medals.
He has had several solo exhibitions in London including Irving Gallery, Leicester Square and Canaletto Gallery, Little Venice. He has also exhibited at the Biennale Internationale de Cherbourg, Daily Express Young Artists (1953), Young Contemporaries, Showed in mixed exhibitions at RA, RBA, NEAC and the New Grafton, Leicester and Redfern Galleries as well as abroad. Retrospective of oil paintings at Carlyle Gallery 2003.
He worked as a critic and reviewer from 1960-62 and had his own book on The Nude published 1965. He is also a highly skilled art restorer. The artist still lives in London.
