Connie Simmers
1941 –
Connie Simmers was born in Glasgow. She attended non-diploma classes at Glasgow School of Art and is now a highly respected figure in the field of Scottish contemporary fine art.
Connie Simmers use of bold colours and rich textures express a love of paint and mixed media as well as a love of her subject. Her unique style has gained her much success in many groups and solo art shows, including RSA, RSW and RGI exhibitions.
Through travelling widely, Connie’s art work has been greatly inspired by the people, colour and light of different parts of the world. She is inspired by the familiar and the unfamiliar and her paintings cover everyday interiors and unusual figurative scenes to landscapes.
Connie Simmers is a recipient of many art awards including: Scottish Amicable Award (GSWA), Morton Fraser Award (VAS), Scottish Arts Award (RSW)
